Mann Friday is a lynchpin act for SA bands that are touring in the UK and are seeking a sold out house in London and have supported top SA acts such as Plush, Arno Carstens, Dirty Skirts and Prime Circle. Leaving their home grounds of Cape Town after winning the Battle of the Bands 2002, the Waiting for the Flash tour marks the first return to African soil in seven years for a band that has made an impressive name for itself on the gritty London gig circuit. They now hope to emulate this success on home turf.
Mann Friday Successes:
Released their single, “Sunburn and Wonder”, in an innovative campaign involving XFM, posters at 30 tube stations and a slot on BBC World News
Over 10 000 copies of their album, “Blue Sky Science”, sold independently
Supported Prime Circle, Dirty Skirts, Arno Carstens and Plush on their UK Tours
Headline Zimfest in the UK annually to over 5 000 people
Award winning Rock Opera, “Zimbabwe Ruins”, transitioning from Grahamstown Festival 2002 to Edinburgh Festival 2003 (Most Controversial Show ‘03), to sold out summer run at Hammersmith Riverside Studios 2004, London.
